Blest morning, whose first dawning rays

by Unknown

Blest morning, whose first dawning rays
"God has raised this Jesus to life" Acts 2:32
Blest morning, whose first dawning rays.
Beheld the Son of God, our Lord
Arise triumphant form the grave,
And leave His dark abode, below.
Hell and the grave combined their force
To hold our Lord but all in vain;
Sudden the conqueror arose
And burst their weak and feeble chain.
Wrapt in the silence of the tomb
The great King and Redeemer lay,
Till the revolving skies had brought
The third, the great, the appointed day
Salvation an Immortal praise
To our victorious Lord and kingl
Let heav'n and earth, and rocks and seas,
With glad hosannas highest ring.
To Father, son, and Holy Ghost.
The God whom we all do adore
Be glory, as it was, and is,
And shall be evermore. A-men.
Attributed to Isaac
Watts, 1674-1748.
